Crossrail Ringway Jacobs are pleased to announce the completion of works at twelve Crossrail sites and the hosting of a Health and Safety Forum for principle contractors.

The Crossrail contract has involved installing 116 signs along lorry routes to Crossrail sites, with more than 80 signs installed onto existing infrastructure to reduce street clutter in accordance with TfL’s Better Streets policy. The successful delivery of the signage has led to additional work installing trixi mirrors at junctions close to Crossrail sites to improve safety for cyclists.

Ringway Jacobs has worked closely with Crossrail on improving health and safety and best practice across all of Crossrail’s contracts. As part of this, Ringway Jacobs hosted a Health and Safety Forum on the 8th December for all Principle Contractors at our depot in Bow. Twenty different contractors were present on the day and took part in four rotating workshops before sharing and discussing best practice around health and safety.

Two of the workshops were led by Ringway Jacobs. One involved a demonstration of the Masternaught vehicle tracking system and was held in the control room at Bow. The other demonstrated the improvements Ringway Jacobs have made in vehicle safety, including cycle safety measures. Crossrail gave an update regarding driver training, and Lavendon demonstrated their new ‘Skysafe’ anti-crush system for use when working at height on boom platforms.

Clive Castell, newly appointed as Crossrail’s Health and Safety director, attended the forum and said that ‘your commitment to ensuring the health and safety of your employees as well as other road users is exemplary and is in keeping with our Target Zero: A State of Mind ethos.”
