The Green Wall has been attached to the pre-existing structure at Edgware Road and consists of a range of hardy evergreen and perennial plants selected for their ability to help maintain cleaner air through the absorption of PM10 particles, in line with the Mayor’s Air Quality Strategy (MAQS). This is the first Green Wall to have been constructed by TfL, with approximately 200m2 of vegetation covering the South East facing wall of the station.
Ringway Jacobs provided traffic management for the installation including all permitting arrangements and scheduled lane closures to facilitate deliveries and working patterns. An enclosed worksite, including all welfare facilities, was also provided along with the removal of guardrails, installation of fencing and closures of passageways within the underground station. The work was all done with short notice, demonstrating Ringway Jacobs’ ability to respond quickly and professionally to the needs of the client.
Will Fooks , MAQS Operations Project Manager, said ‘The Ringway Jacobs team working on Edgware Road have been very helpful throughout the construction. Installation wouldn’t have gone anywhere near as smoothly without them.’
