We are delighted to announce that Ringway Jacobs has been notified of award for the Engineering Services Partnering Contract working for the London Olympic Boroughs of Newham, Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest. The award is subject to ‘Alcatel’ minimum mandatory standstill period of ten clear days before the award can be formally concluded.
The new integrated service provider contract will commence on 1 October 2008, will be for an initial period of five years, extendable to six years, and we expect the value to be in the region of £7M per annum.
The report recommending the award to LB Newham’s Mayor, Sir Robin Wales, highlighted a number of RJ proposals that contributed to the successful tender. These include:
- Minimising our environmental impact through the use Euro V vehicles
- The use of pollution reducing products and energy efficient lighting
- Recycling of arisings at Ringway’s recycling plant at Dagenham, thereby minimising the amount taken to landfill
- Proposals to use a carbon calculator on this contract to minimise the carbon foot print
The work streams comprised in the contract, covering consultancy, design and works, are:
- Programmed and Responsive highway maintenance works
- Capital highway works arising form the 2012 Olympics and development
- Traffic management schemes
- Secondments to support vacancies in the establishment
- Construction services
- Bridge maintenance
In respect of signs and lighting maintenance, it is also proposed that this contract will incorporate the Council’s existing signs and lighting term maintenance contract, not later than at the expiration of the existing contract in October 2010.
In summarising the recommendation it stated that:
all [the Boroughs] clearly want Ringway Jacobs Ltd as the service provider
This is great news for Ringway Jacobs, and is in accordance with the objectives set out in our Business Plan
