Recently operatives and supervisors across all Ringway Jacobs contracts took part in behavioural safety training using a group of actors. This training encourages the employees in the audience to engage in role play and demonstrates how good communication is the key to improving health and safety performance.
Colleagues participated in a number of scenarios and investigated the resulting decisions that may have been required. Following this training, positive feedback has been received and it has been agreed that all senior members of the management team will be spending a day out with the workforce to experience the issues and hazards that are common to their everyday activities.
Other planned initiatives in the campaign include the training of managers in behavioural safety, the introduction of trained peer auditors and the roll out of poster and awareness campaigns. The campaign will be developed to cover all aspects of workplace safety - including the office, on site and whilst driving.
