The operatives have new PDAs, enabling work to be programmed and carried out more efficiently. Rather than travelling back and forth across the county if emergency works arise, work can be programmed to ensure minimal travel between jobs. The software will then redirect the gangs via the PDAs to the nearest work to be completed and revise the original programme accordingly. This means that the gangs can increase productivity and drive fewer miles as jobs will be planned in a more efficient way.
Chris Hegarty-Swain, Street Lighting Operations Lead said, “The new 360 scheduler software is both innovative and beneficial to TfB Street Lighting as it schedules and plans the day to day maintenance activities for all operational staff.”
All gangs have now been trained and are using the new software to its fullest potential. Whilst there are inevitably minor teething problems, the Street Lighting team is leading the way for TfB in taking on this new scheduling system.
