To assist in the recovery of all costs associated with third party damage to the highway infrastructure and the defense of claims against Ringway Jacobs and our Clients, in a manner that achieves both value for money for our Clients and sustainable shareholder value consistent with the contract, tender and agreed processes.  Split of role to be 50 percent Green Claims and 50 percent Red Claims.

This role is a fixed term contract for 12 months and will be based in Chelmsford but will require travel to London offices. 


Assisting with the maintenance of the “Recoverable Incident Register” managed by the Central Green Claims team

Assist in establishing recoverable costs and preparation of invoices (only applicable on contracts where invoices are generated through the Client system)

Provide substantiation of costs and evidence of incidents

Provide support, as required, to the Central Green Claims team

Provide a full range of administrative functions

Liaising internally with operational teams

Produce reports as necessary to support Ringway Jacobs’ claim defensibility, including reporting from, NAMS, JobWatch, Work Trax and other Ringway Jacobs and Client systems as required

Record all Red Claims using Ringway Jacobs’ claim management systems CS Stars and clients NAMS system.

Liaise with claimant’s solicitors, Client representatives and others in providing claim defence

Recommend future works and network improvements to prevent further costs to the LoHAC business

Internal reporting as required

Ad hoc site visits

Skills and Experience

Ability to investigate and assess risk and quantify financial cost

Good communication and written skills

Good IT Skills

Understanding of Section 41 and 58 of the 1980’s Highways Act

Ability to deal with difficult customers/situations

Ability to deal with sensitive/confidential information

Good communication skills

Driving licence

Ability to read and understand medical reports

Assisting with preparation of Witness statements

General ad hoc legal advice relating to Highways, litigation, contract etc

Provide justifications for recommended settlement based on statutory/common law principles

Ability to take in-depth trial notes and prepare case precis for board reports
