Description

Reporting to the Head of HSEQ. The purpose of the role is to provide day to day advice on all environmental related topics contained within Ringway Jacobs and to develop and deploy the company strategy, policies and procedures to ensure that we meet our legal objectives while implementing innovative methods as part of continuous improvement.

The role can be based out of any of our contracted offices; Cheshire, Bedford, Buckinghamshire, Essex or London. 



Responsibilities

Development of the Ringway Jacobs Environmental Management & Sustainability Objectives and Strategy.

Overall review and management of the Ringway Jacobs environmental management system, including the development and update policies, processes, procedures and templates in line with ISO 14001 and industry best practice.

Act as the main point of contact for Ringway Jacobs with the Environment Agency, other enforcing authorities and external audit bodies as required.

Collate, review and approve monthly Environmental Reports.

Collate, Review and approve Environmental Investigations as required.

Identify new and/or amended legislation and assess the impact on the organisation.

Carry out and support environmental internal/legal compliance audits/inspections and develop reports and actions as required making recommendations to embed continuous improvement.

Develop and rollout training on environmental matters as required across the organisation.

Ensure that all personnel are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities, and to provide advice as and when required.

Advise and support contract teams in all matters of Environmental Management including maintaining compliance with environmental consents and permits.

Collate and approve incident investigation reports.

Collate and approve environmental reports and data.

Develop and approve all Environmental documentation before it is issued on the Ringway Jacobs Management System.

Report incidents to the enforcing authority and assist them with any investigations.

Advise on suitable training for employees and carry out as required.

Approve competency assessment in relation to environmental issues.


Skills and Experience

Environmental degree with 5 years’ relevant experience in environmental management.

Audit qualifications & experience of ISO 14001 management systems audits.

Experience with external audit agencies and enforcement authorities.

Detailed knowledge of Environmental Legislation.

Experience in Waste Management and Transfer Notes implementation.

Fully conversant of Microsoft office.

Self-starter, excellent organisation skills with ability to prioritise and manage workload under varying circumstances.

Willing to travel as the role is a corporate role covering all of our contracts across the UK.
