Responsible for growing our Traffic Management capability and expertise across Ringway Jacobs. This includes implementing a strategy covering all aspects of self-delivery, influencing long term resource management for each of our operational contracts and developing in house capabilities for training and development in accordance with the relevant sector scheme accreditation.

This role will be based on one of Ringway Jacobs’s framework contracts (London, Buckinghamshire, Central Bedfordshire, Essex or Cheshire East). The role will involve travel to each contract to engage with the respective teams and managers, therefore there will be occasions when overnight stays will be necessary.


Single point of expertise across Ringway Jacobs for Traffic Management operating as a technical expert

Reviewing and advising on technical traffic management layouts and standards for schemes

Ensure the latest technology and innovations are used with Traffic Management installations

Point of contract for Traffic Management across shareholder organisation

Work with the HR Services Team to prepare, develop and deliver appropriate sector scheme training plans for all operational staff

Work with operational leads to grow resource base to increase in house Traffic Management capability

Work with the Fleet and Transport Manager to ensure all vehicles are to the latest specification considering technology and innovation

Owner of the Ringway Jacobs Traffic Management Manual, ensuring that it is maintained in accordance with shareholder requirements and latest industry practice

Ensure that systems are in place for operational staff to be equipped with the correct documentation, risk assessments, traffic management drawings and equipment

Work with the Procurement Manager to ensure that all subcontracted Traffic Management is through approved and accredited suppliers

Promote Ringway Jacobs Traffic Management capabilities within the industry

Skills and Experience

Have at least 10 years’ experience within highway industry 

Detailed understanding of the various National Highways Sector Schemes 12

Experience working with operational managers at various levels

Good level of written and oral communications skills

Sound understanding of Health and Safety Legislation

Track record of introducing innovation or technology improving the service whilst reducing costs

Training will be provided for the successful candidate

National Highways Sector Scheme 12 TM Foreman

TSCO Qualified

HNC/HND or equivalent

IOSH Supervising Safely (or equivalent)

Full Driving licence
