Description

As Lighting and Technology Engineer you will carry out the design, investigation, and implementation of lighting schemes and provide input in the development of the technology team.

This role can be based within the following contracts: Essex, Buckinghamshire, Cheshire East and Central Bedfordshire.


Responsibilities

 To carry out the design, investigation, and implementation of lighting schemes. Working with the lighting design team to deliver the design requirements

Writing Feasibility Reports

Engagement with Clients and external parties

Interaction with Operations teams to ensure effective handover of designs including Health & Safety requirements

Providing day to day technical support for the trainee/assistant design engineers

To plan and implement the maintenance programmes associated with highway lighting ensuring that these are fully integrated and coordinated with other highway maintenance and works programmes

Maintain positive and constructive working relationships and communication channels with external organisations and also within the Council

Comply with the Health and Safety Policy of the Council including Construction, Design and Management Regulations


Skills and Experience

 

Must have a keen interest in Smart Cities and Technology Solutions

IT background or software programming is beneficial

Knowledge of Highway Legislation, Local Government procedures and design standards and good practice.

Detailed knowledge of current editions of the IEE various regulations.

Working knowledge of budgetary controls and the planning, co-ordination and control of highway lighting contracts

HNC/ONC level qualification or equivalent

Eng. Technician or Incorporated Engineer status

Appropriate membership of a relevant Professional Institution

Evidence of continuous professional development

Technology Focused Degree / HNC or ILP Exterior Lighting Diploma

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Technology field or Lighting Design

Full, clean driving licence

Able to undertake electrical and lighting design work

Fully conversant with MS - Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

CAD skills including AutoCAD and lighting reality design software

Communication skills including report writing.
