Lighting and Technology Team Leader

As the Lighting and Technology Team Leader your role will be to manage and develop a team that specialises in Lighting Design (staff may be in separate locations) to bring in External Consultancy Work. The role will also support the RJ contracts to promote and win work for these services internally with our clients. Help develop the technology strategy with the wider team and within our departments on the contract you are working within.
Build our lighting team to ensure that we meet our KPI’s
Bid and win work around Externally (this will be an important aspect of the role) and build strong relationships with clients and external parties so that we get repeat work
Bid and win work around RJ contracts and work closely with the contract teams to build relationships and promote our lighting and technology services
Be able to manage designs through to commissioning on site to ensure that the end project is achieved as per the design, this is critical in providing successful schemes
To build up RJ’s reputation within the industry as lighting and technology specialist organisation
Ensure that our designs maintain a high standard of Health and Safety in accordance with the CDM regulations
Write quarterly highlight update reports covering Finance / Commercial, Resource, Quality, Issues, good news stories etc.
Increase design team revenue
Line management responsibilities.
Take ownership of design standards, (ensuring we work to up-to-date standards)
Ensure that the team have effective Continual Professional Development (CPD) plans and provide the training they require
Improve and create document templates and internal processes
Ensure that resourcing requirements are met
Approve design work carried out by the team.
Skills and Experience
Have at least 5 years’ experience within the lighting industry with a working knowledge of the relevant standards
Must have or be working towards IEng and MILP membership and accreditation.
Must be comfortable in presenting and communicating, clearly and appropriately, to all levels within the business and externally with clients
Have management experience
Experience in AutoCAD, electrical cable design and Lighting Reality
Experienced user of MS Office software
Good knowledge of CDM Regulations
Experience of highways contracts
Experience of managing programmes of architectural lighting and specialist lighting works.
Ability to plan, coordinate and organise a range of activities
Highly IT competent
Good report writing skills
Full Driving Licence
Degree/HNC in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
ILP Exterior Lighting Diploma or equivalent qualification or SLL/MCIBSE
Must be a HEA/ECS Highway Electrical Registration Scheme (HERS) Approved Person with Found 01 and Found 07 or working towards
BS7671 17th Edition or 18th City and Guilds Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671: 2008 (2015 or 2018)
