Ringway Jacobs have a new exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Procurement to join our Senior Management Team in delivering safe, sustainable service excellence through our passion, integrity and collaborative culture.  Leading an experienced team based in Essex, this role reports to the Finance Director with significant organisation-wide and UK exposure.  You will cover the whole company procurement needs both day to day and in developing and delivering strategies to further enhance our capabilities as an organisation.  As Head of Procurement you will manage relationships with key stakeholders and will have the ability to influence decision makers.  Strong project management skills and the ability to work as part of a cross functional team are important aspects of this role.  You will have the ability to build and develop effective relationships with key internal stakeholders demonstrating a full understanding of their drivers & requirements and identifying and providing appropriate support & solutions.


Lead the business in agreeing and then delivering clear and compelling category strategies within Supply Chain, Subcontract and Professional Services.

Challenge suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to identify and deliver value engineering projects which remove cost from our material/product or service that are not-valued by our customers.

Plan and execute negotiations for both formal tenders and ad-hoc activities ensuring that the business obtains best value on it’s spend.

Ability to consolidate market, supplier, subcontract and internal business data and information to develop and implement a cohesive, business-aligned long-term category strategies.

Partner with the expertise areas within the business to develop a robust performance and relationship management program by facilitating supplier segmentation, setting value creation targets with the key suppliers and developing category-wide sets of key performance indicators.

Working with the Senior Management Team and taking the lead on business critical projects such as a new ERP system.

Support the Senior Management Team in identifying new suppliers and new formats which support new activities and products.

Manage an efficient supplier and subcontract selection process driving the team towards a timely decision with all risks identified.

Negotiate master agreements as well as other associated contracts and detailed budgets and payment schedules.

Ensure accurate reporting of procurement key performance measures (operational metrics, savings, quality, customer service, etc.) for each category.

As a leader in the Procurement Team, help build and implement key enablers (tools, templates, systems, etc.) to raise team capabilities to deliver best-in-class support to our customers.

Mentor junior Procurement team members and stay up to date on industry practices.


Skills and Experience

Degree level educated and professionally qualified MCIPS

Experienced Procurement & Supply Chain operational leader managing Supply Chain teams

Strong experience working with vendors within the Construction and Professional Services industry

Excellent communication skills both oral, written & presentational

Excellent computer literacy coupled with strong knowledge of working experience of vendor management software

Experienced sourcing and vendor manager

Excellent negotiation and networking skills

Proven track record of driving change

Strong leadership capabilities

Proven track record of significant cost reduction

Managing and setting budgets
