Description

To take instruction in achieving good contract governance and achieving commercial policy and guidelines as set by the Commercial Manager. 

To mentor and coach colleagues within the Commercial Department


Responsibilities

 Control of costs against the original estimates and budgets.

Identification and processing early warning and compensation events

Assessment of Subcontractor liabilities and Subcontractor Management

Review and processing of subcontractor applications for payment

Maintaining of accurate cost and value records to present to management and to support applications to the client

Maintaining an assessment of commercial risks.

Ability to operate the CPA System

An understanding of the contract with the Client and its application

Ability to conduct effective negotiations with both the Client and Subcontractors

An understanding of the principles of measurement within the Highways Maintenance environment

Demonstrate an understanding of Construction activities

To maintain and enhance the reputation of Ringway Jacobs by encouraging and demonstrating our core value of integrity

To promote and value our culture of continual improvement while complying with our Business Management System policies and procedures


Skills and Experience

A brief understanding of Term Maintenance Contracts and their application under the NEC terms and conditions

Previous experience of actual cost contracts would be beneficial.

Ability to manage and prioritise duties

An understanding highway method of measurement principles and able to apply these to valuations

Ability to engage and communicate with client, stakeholders, subcontractors and third parties

Good written and verbal communication skills

Good understanding of IT systems (Microsoft Office)

At least 2 years’ experience in Construction performing commercial duties

A basic knowledge of contract law, construction & commercial duties (measurement)

A basic understanding of Health & Safety legislation
