Description

The successful candidate will manage a small inspection team undertaking general inspections of structures in Essex. They will review General Inspection reports using the Bridge Management System and ensure compliance with Contract Performance Indicators. 


Responsibilities

Compliance with contract performance indicator and monthly reporting

Management of the General Inspection Programme

Review and signing off the General Inspection reports

Liaison to enable access for inspections

Management of the Principal and Special Inspection Programme

Management of the structures monitoring programme

Review of adequacy of monitoring and commentary on changes in condition

For the health, safety and welfare of the inspection team

For health, safety and incident reporting

For the training of new team members

Providing technical direction and mentoring to inspectors

For the accuracy of new data within the bridge management system (inspection, safety reports)

Through strong leadership, ensure that the business objectives are adequately cascaded and supported by your team

To maintain and enhance the reputation of Ringway Jacobs by encouraging and demonstrating our core vision and values

Skills and Experience

As the Senior Inspector you will be working on a variety of project types, sizes and complexities. Key traits/skills will include:

A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

Good understanding of structural behaviour and detailed knowledge of inspection codes and standards.

Demonstrable ability in assessing risk in relation to highway structures and proposing mitigation measures when safety defects are identified.

Experience of liaising and negotiating with 3rd parties such as Network Rail and landowners.

Able to produce well-presented and accurate reports and sketches.

Capable of managing a challenging workload subject to change at short notice.

Capability to manage tasks and costs; and deliver work to programme.

Good IT skills.

Self-motivated.

Confident and clear communicator with proven interpersonal and communication skills.

Health and Safety training in the Bridges Sector

CEng or working towards attaining chartered status.

Working towards LANTRA Bridge Inspector Certification Scheme (NHSS31)

Confined Space trained

Full Driving Licence

A minimum of 5 years working in structures inspections or related area

Experience in working in confined spaces, at height over and above water

Health and Safety training in the Bridges Sector
