Description

The main purpose of the role is to assist, generally as part of a team, in delivering hedge, tree and associated works on the highway. Roles are available in both our Wardle and Brunswick Depots.

 


Responsibilities

Work as part of the highway maintenance operational team

Ensure that all works are completed safely

Hedge and tree pruning, pollarding, crown thinning, felling etc.

Tree climbing to carry out maintenance works

Soft estate maintenance works (e.g. grass cutting, strimming, etc.)

Traffic Management operations.

Receive daily briefings and understand risks and control measures required for the task

Complete daily record sheets and associated documents

Ensure that works are completed to the required standard and within required timescales

Report safety concerns

Ensure waste is dealt with in the appropriate manner

Assist with inspection of plant, machinery and vehicle

The post holder will be required to participate in out-of-hours winter maintenance and emergency response activities on a rota basis, which will sometimes involve working unsociable hours, weekends and public holidays.


Skills and Experience

Self-motivator

Possesses multiple skills to carry out a variety of highway maintenance and construction tasks

Ability to deal effectively with peers, client representatives and the general public

Able to take responsibility for setting and operating traffic management

Able to give clear basic instruction

Encourages other members of the team by example

Take personal responsibility for work produced, makes decisions and provides detailed solutions when escalating decisions upwards

Preference in holding driving licenses, HGV 2 / 7.5 ton & car.

Minimum of 5 years highways maintenance experience

LGV

Winter Maintenance and emergency response

12 A/B Traffic Management

Hedge and tree maintenance to include use of hedge cutters, chainsaws, pole pruners, climbing

MEWP trained

Valid NRSWA

Valid CSCS card
