Description

Reporting to Street Lighting Manager. The role involves assisting in providing an efficient and effective service to our customers, delivering the planned works and services within the function and ensuring that the challenges of delivering the vision and priorities of Cheshire East Highways is met.

The main purpose of the job is to carry out the management and maintenance of the private electrical network across Cheshire East which includes fault locating and repair, cable jointing and terminating, installing and repairing lighting columns and other illuminated street furniture. There will also be a need to support other teams/departments by carrying electrical installation work.


Responsibilities

Support Health & Safety, with the aim of minimising work related injuries by implementing Cheshire East Highways policies and procedures.

To assist with audits to ensure safety, quality and environmental standards are met by implementing Cheshire East Highways policies and procedures.

To assist with the identification of schemes and services for future programmes as appropriate.

To provide assistance to the team in relation to all aspects covered within the function of the group. Assist with the use of systems and data for collating and reporting relevant performance and management information.

To understand the overall functions, aims and directions of Cheshire East Highways, and how their specific area of responsibility fits into those objectives.

Ensure compliance to electrical standards to ensure safe electrical installations across to contract.

Confident in the use of test and fault finding equipment, carry out fault finding on private underground networks, locate faults and bring back into light.

Have a flexible approach to working with the ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.

 


Skills and Experience

Be an experienced and qualified street lighting electrician with:

C&G 2361, 2330 or equivalent.

C&G 2391, HEA 714 or equivalent.

C&G 6156 (NRSWA) Units 1-3 and ideally 1-9.

HESA 210: G39/1.

Full, clean driving licence.

Ideally hold:

IPAF 1B.

Abrasive wheel training.

Manual Handling training.

1st Aid training.

Cable Avoidance Tool training.

ECS/CSCS Card.

And can demonstrate:

Jointing experience.

3 phase experience

Registration under the HERS scheme as a Highway Electrician.
