To undertake the inspection of the highway structures which are owned and/or maintained by Buckinghamshire County Council as part of a defined programme in accordance with the Inspection Manual for Highway Structures, ensuring compliance with performance and programme targets.
Assist the Senior Structures Inspector to prepare and plan the annual schedule of highway structures inspections.
To undertake the inspections defined on the highway structures inspection programme (Safety Inspections, General Inspections, Principal Inspections, Special Inspections, Inspections for Assessment, Inspections for Acceptance).
To record the findings and observations of the inspections and produce the inspection reports.
Enter the inspection reports onto the asset management system (BridgeStation) for approval by the Technical Approval Authority.
Produce and record the site environmental awareness and hazard awareness assessments for the sites to be inspected.
To oversee and manage the work of inspection staff / workforce which are working under your control and instructions.
To prepare and review RAMS documents relating to structures inspections. Ensure working practices adhere to the RAMS and the principles of Think Safe Home Safe.
To promote safe working practices in accordance with Ringway Jacobs Health & Safety Policy and to lead by example demonstrating commitment and passion for zero incidents.
To ensure all work is completed in line with corporate and local business objectives.
Ensure all contractual and performance requirements relevant to role are met as well as provide accurate information to enable reporting against.
To attend / assist with network incidents as necessary.
To undertake site surveys and assist with the weak bridge monitoring activities of the team.
To be available to work both overnight and on weekends as the programme dictates.
Provide technical support to Clients and to staff within Ringway Jacobs.
To carry out other duties consistent with the above that may be directed or implied from time to time as required commensurate to the post.
Skills and Experience
Minimum of 2 years working in a highways or construction environment.
Minimum of 12 months experience of undertaking structures inspections including the preparation of inspection reports.
Knowledge of the Bridge Inspector Certification Scheme.
Awareness of asset management processes, theories, etc.
Awareness of structural defects and their causes.
Experience of site surveying.
