Description

Reporting to the Team Leader, the purpose of the role is to assist in initiation, planning and implementation of highway infrastructure related processes and projects. This is a fixed term 12 month placement for a student currently undertaking a Civil Engineering Degree. 


Responsibilities

Support Team Objectives.

Delivery of business plan objectives.

Operational safety and environmental matters as described in our way of working.

Liaison with client, local Councillors, stakeholders and third parties as required.

Liaise with other team members associated with allocated schemes.

Assist in ensuring scheme designs comply with the brief, specification and agreed programme.

Maintain accurate records on allocated projects.

Manage all aspects of correspondence relating to work areas.

Assist in the production of designs at various project stages including feasibility, outline and detailed designs.

Production of design calculations and drawings.

Use of approved design software packages.

Assist in delivering projects to an appropriate quality to meet financial targets and project programme deadlines.

Prepare scheme changes to the scope of the works for referral to the Team Leader for acceptance.


Skills and Experience

Successfully completed two years of an accredited BEng (Hons) Degree Course in Civil Engineering.

An appreciation of the principles of safety management.

Ability to deal with peers.

Understanding the importance of controlling cost and value.

Understanding of applicable computer software packages.

To manage his / her own time in an effective manner, ensuring appointments are met and reporting requirements met.

Good interpersonal and organisational skills with a proactive solution oriented approach.

Good communication.

Be dependable and adaptable and have initiative to ensure goals are achieved.
