Working within the Business Project team you will be responsible for progressing activities to complete the Additional Pothole Funding Scheme such as; information collation, determining method of repair, allocating work, applying for and negotiating NRSWA permits, supporting contractors carrying out the work and remotely checking and logging work completed. You will report and closely work with the Business Projects Manager. This role will be on a fixed term contract till March 2019, we are happy to consider part time and full time hours to support this role.
To progress sites from inspection to completion using the most appropriate method of repair available within processes and protocols for the project.
To select the most appropriate method of repair available.
To maintain and update data in the Systems used in the management of Highway Assets to ensure forward programmes of work for the contractors, data integrity and accurate information to County Councillors and the public on the Additional Pothole Funding Project.
To apply for NRSWA permits including negotiation for space and ensure the permits are kept up to date as the work progresses.
Ensure consistent, clear communication with the team, the rest of Essex Highways and contractors to ensure quality and value repairs.
Any other tasks necessary to progress this project efficiently.
Skills and Experience
A-level education or equivalent qualification.
Experience/qualification in highways maintenance preferably including Traffic Management.
Experience an understanding of the use of Asset Management Systems (preferably Confirm) within a Local Government or Engineering environment.
Experience of the NRSWA permit process and legislation would be an advantage.
Experience in the accurate entry and handling of data and data management protocols.
Knowledge of Highway Legislation, relevant design procedures and standards and good practice.
Good positive communication skills.
