Reporting directly to the functional leader/Officer the role involves assisting in providing a first class service to our customers, delivering the planned works and services within their function and ensuring that the challenges of delivering the vision and priorities of the County Council Essex Highways are met.
Liaising as required with team members, the role is to use appropriate software and systems to assist with the collection, input and management of data and information to allow analysis, reporting/presentation and monitoring of work relevant to an operational or service area in accordance with the strategies and policies of Essex Highways.
To provide timely and accurate data and information on highway-related matters, in accordance with national standards/guidelines, as required to assist with the identification, preparation, design, planning, programming and ordering of work and services.
To contribute to the teams performance in providing speedy and courteous responses to queries and complaints in accordance with relevant targets and standards.
Support Health and Safety, Environmental Management System, Quality Management System and Construction Design Management in a positive and constructive manner, with the aim of minimising work related injuries by implementing ECC and Essex Highways policies and procedures.
Assist with the use of systems and data for collating and reporting relevant performance and management information including record keeping as required.
Understands the overall functions, aims and directions of Essex Highways, and how their specific area of responsibility fits into those objectives.
Skills and Experience
GCSE-level education or equivalent qualification, or experience in highways.
Evidence of continuous professional development.
Understanding of Highway Legislation, relevant design procedures and standards and good practice.
Knowledge of relevant engineering or service techniques and procedures including the use of specialist software tools as required.
Understanding and application of Health and Safety legislation.
Ability to prioritise own work to support business priorities. Manages own performance and seeks feedback to improve where identified.
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with key people both internally and externally.
Demonstrable awareness of environmental aspects and impacts and waste management
Conversant with Microsoft applications– Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
Where necessary, valid driving licence and use of car where not provided, unless the role can be undertaken effectively by alternative transport arrangements.
Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to act as a valuable team player.
