Technician - Construction - Cheshire

Reporting to the Construction Manager. The post holder will be responsible for providing technical and administrative support to deliver the annual programme of works within the construction programme and the capital maintenance programme. To work as part of a team and to support other officers and contribute to the successful delivery of individual projects throughout the Borough.
The Technician will assist the team, who are responsible for ensuring that projects are designed, developed and delivered safely to budget and to programme.
To work with team members to design and deliver maintenance and improvement projects at the required quality and to budget, together with delivery of the communication and consultation requirements of the scheme.
Gather and submit monthly performance data.
Liaison with client, stakeholders and third parties where necessary.
Liaise with other team members associated with the allocated scheme.
Maintain accurate records on allocated projects.
Ensure all projects comply with Health and Safety regulations and CDM requirements.
Communicate and co-ordinate with our Supply Chain Partners and provide them with the appropriate level of site documentation.
Promote RJ core values.
Take responsibility for Health, Safety, Quality and Environment.
Process work permits to ensure road space is booked.
Raise works orders and Traffic Regulation Orders in confirm and process monthly reports for approval.
Compile PCI/CPP job packs to ensure safe delivery of works.
Work closely with the Asset Management Team to ensure as built information is returned in a timely manner.
Skills and Experience
Knowledge of highway maintenance works.
Knowledge of and experience in use of construction materials used in highways.
Appropriate knowledge and application of Health and Safety legislation including Construction. (Design & Management) Regulations and an appropriate level of understanding of the principles of safety and the ability to apply this in the workplace.
A knowledge of a wide range of highway maintenance techniques and treatments.
Good range of IT skills; Confirm, Word, Outlook and Excel.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrate thorough working knowledge of health and safety legislation and codes of practice.
Understanding of highway maintenance and delivery methods and techniques.
Sound knowledge of business and service objectives.
Able to use initiative be self-motivated and work under pressure, with minimal supervision.
Plan and prioritise competing workloads to obtain maximum efficiency.
Provide support to other sections of the service.
Be a team player who interacts at meetings.
Able to promote the service and present key data at monthly meetings.
