Stage three of the Tour of Britain took place in Cheshire East on Tuesday 6 September. As well as surveying the 179.4km route in preparation for the event, a representative from Cheshire East Highways was part of Cheshire East Council’s Tour of Britain project board, coordinating the highways preparations in the run up to the race.

Cheshire East Highways managed the traffic management in the Crewe area on race day, ensuring the ride passed through the town safely and efficiently. They also had a representative working in the Tour of Britain control centre who had responsibility for the management of the Cheshire East road network whilst the race took place. Along the route, ten members of staff took time out of their working day to act as volunteer stewards to help ensure the event ran smoothly.

The Tour of Britain was a spectacular vision for members of the public to watch and enjoy, with many local community groups holding celebrations on the day to mark the occasion, having been given free highways advice from Cheshire East Highways.
