Primary school pupils given the chance to name Essex's gritting lorries

Schoolchildren in Essex have the opportunity to name 12 of the county’s gritting lorries as part of a new competition.

Essex Highways’ fleet of 64 gritting lorries spreads about 20,000 tonnes of salt each winter, treating 2,000 miles of Essex roads.

Pupils at the county’s primary schools have the chance to enter a competition to name a selection of them. A winner will be selected from each of the 12 districts and the gritting lorries will be branded with the 12 chosen names.
