Priority One project shortlisted for National Transport Award

Ringway Jacobs' work with Essex County Council on the Priority One project has been shortlisted for a National Transport Award

We are pleased to announce that our work with Essex County Council on the Priority One project has been shortlisted for a national award at the National Transport Awards.

The project, which delivered an additional £25 million investment in highway maintenance across Essex, has been shortlisted in the Best Alliance/Collaboration category. The awards recognise the commitment, expertise and innovation of organisations improving transport networks across the UK.

Priority One represents the largest additional investment ever made in highways maintenance in Essex and delivered a comprehensive programme of improvements. This included road resurfacing, vegetation clearance, drainage repairs, signage upgrades and new road markings.

The programme brought together the political leadership and ambition of Essex County Council with the technical expertise and delivery capability of Ringway Jacobs. Together, both organisations rose to the challenge of delivering an 18-month programme in just eight months, including work carried out during the high-risk winter period.

In total, 128 sections of road were resurfaced, covering 400,000 square metres (equivalent to 83 football pitches). More than 2,000 jet-patching repairs addressed potholes and surface defects, alongside 32 white-lining schemes.

Alongside resurfacing works, Essex Highways – the strategic partnership between Essex County Council and Ringway Jacobs – also delivered 582 vegetation clearance schemes, 824 drainage jetting operations, 30 drainage repairs, and 446 signage and bollard repairs.

This shortlisting recognises the vision of Essex County Council and the professionalism and commitment of our teams in planning, mobilising and delivering such an ambitious programme. The result is a safer, more resilient road network for communities across Essex.

Congratulations to all other shortlisted projects. We look forward to the awards evening in October.
