Twenty-one colleagues from Ringway Jacobs and Cheshire East Highways have taken on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for charity.
Twenty-one colleagues from Ringway Jacobs and Cheshire East Highways have taken on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, walking 24 miles and raising more than £1,400 for mental health charity Mates in Mind.
Starting and finishing in Horton-in-Ribblesdale, the team tackled the demanding route, which takes in three of the Yorkshire Dales’ highest peaks: Pen-y-ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m). Most of the group completed the challenge in an impressive 10 hours and 30 minutes.
While some participants had previous experience of endurance events, the challenge was a first of its kind for the majority. Despite the physical demands, everyone showed tremendous determination and resilience, with a strong sense of teamwork and support helping them along the way.
The group also faced some challenging weather conditions, with grey skies, cool temperatures and showers making sections of the route slippery underfoot. However, conditions gradually improved, bringing warm sunshine, a welcome breeze and spectacular views across the Yorkshire Dales.
As well as testing their own endurance, the colleagues were raising funds for Mates in Mind, a charity dedicated to improving mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, with a particular focus on the construction and related industries.
The team has already raised an impressive £1,435, with donations continuing to come in.
Anyone wishing to support their fundraising efforts can donate via their fundraising page.
