Ringway Jacobs awarded Gold membership by The 5% Club

Ringway Jacobs has been awarded Gold membership of The 5% Club - a nationwide movement that promotes ‘earn as you learn’ opportunities such as apprenticeships and graduate schemes.

The Gold Award recognises Ringway Jacobs’ success in promoting paid training and career development which has seen the actual percentage of employees in earn and learn positions top seven percent in two of our contracts, Essex Highways and Cheshire East Highways.

“We are proud of our investment in our staff members, which is why we joined The 5% Club,” said Ringway Jacobs manager director Phil Horton.

“Such investment in employment opportunities is good for our business and it embeds expertise and professionalism throughout the organisation and it is good for our people as well as it helps them do a first-class job and while assisting their career progression.

“It is also clearly good for the communities in which we work as it means we offer not just employment but employment that enables local people to be the best they can be. Adding social value is important to us and providing excellent training and professional development is great way of doing that.”

With a membership pf over 750 companies, The 5% Club represents over 1.6 Million Employees, 93,500 of whom are in “earn and learn” schemes. The Employer Audit – at the end of which members are awarded either Gold, Silver or Bronze status - is a unique scheme which validates the employers’ activities, explores their future plans and commitments, as well as examining their approaches to quality, social mobility, diversity and inclusion.

Ringway Jacobs is one of 107 members to achieve Gold

Mark Cameron OBE, Chief Executive at The 5% Club said, “It is fantastic that in these challenging times so many companies are able to commit to the Employer Audit and to gain the credit for their efforts, and that the majority are striving to expand their schemes over the coming years. Their efforts and achievements are to be applauded.”

Gill Cronin, Director of Operations at The 5% Club added: “I am always impressed at the commitment, drive and energy our members channel into offering “earn and learn” skills opportunities. To now see so many of these members gain Bronze, Silver and Gold accredited membership demonstrates how these companies such as Ringway Jacobs are contributing to the future of skills in our economy.”
