Ringway Jacobs, in partnership with the London Borough of Haringey, has begun work on a public realm enhancement scheme to improve the appearance and create a unique identity for the High Road in Wood Green.

Known as the Wood Green Town Centre Major Scheme, the proposed works will take place over 16 months along the High Road between Lordship Lane and Carlingford Road. The scheme encompasses a number of initial improvements to the footway, street lighting and access to local transport links.

Five of the programme’s phases got off to a remarkable start, with the remainder of the works scheduled to start in the autumn months. Once the works are complete, bespoke street furniture, signage and special features will be added to complete the new, improved and unique identity sought for the area.

Matthew Kelley, London Borough Contracts Manager, Ringway Jacobs said, “Ringway Jacobs is excited to be involved in this major scheme. It is hoped that these works will improve the look of the High Road and will bring a more modern and safe feel to the area. It is expected that these improvements will invigorate Wood Green shopping area and enhance the environment for its residents, businesses and visitors.”

Stephen Jones, Major Schemes Project Manager, London Borough of Haringey said, “The delivery of this £4.2 million investment will transform the everyday experience people have of the streets and outdoor spaces in Wood Green Town Centre; and create well designed public spaces and streets within the Town Centre that will inspire and serve the functions of the local community and visitors. We look forward to scheme completion when the results of the investment can be fully utilised.”

“to provide a valued street environment for people who live, work and visit London”
