At Ringway Jacobs, we are proud to be an Armed Forces Friendly Employer, recognising the vital role the Armed Forces Community plays in our society and the unique strengths they bring to our company. Since signing the Armed Forces Covenant in 2017, we have remained committed to supporting service personnel, veterans, reservists, cadet force adult volunteers, and military families.

In 2020, we were honoured to receive the prestigious Gold Award under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme — a reflection of our ongoing dedication to inclusive employment opportunities and advocacy across our industry.

Our commitment

Our commitment is built on three core principles, as outlined by our Managing Director, Philip Horton:

  1. Doing the Right Thing “Supporting people who have made personal sacrifices to protect our country and society is quite simply the right thing to do. The significance of this support is as important now as at any time in recent history.”
  2. Recognising Exceptional Talent “There is a great pool of talent with many transferable skills that we can tap into — not only ex-military veterans and reservists but also cadet force adult volunteers and spouses, many of whom demonstrate a can-do attitude, strong moral compass, the ability to learn quickly and problem-solving skills.”
  3. Shared Values “We take pride in employing people whose values reflect our own — providing excellent services with integrity and in collaboration with our partners and wider stakeholders.”

Our Support in Practice

We have embedded a range of policies and practices to ensure meaningful support for the Armed Forces Community including:

  • 10 days’ additional paid leave for reservists and cadet force adult volunteers to meet their training commitments and activities.
  • Engagement with the Career Transition Partnership and Forces Families Jobs to help service leavers and military families access career opportunities at Ringway Jacobs.
  • An Armed Forces Network which comprises of different members of the Armed Forces Community using their own first-hand experience to introduce new initiatives and build on the support we provide.
  • Engaging with Cadet Forces in our local communities by raising awareness around the career opportunities available in the industry.
  • Advocacy of Armed Forces events including Remembrance and Armed Forces Week.
